Bio

Brigette is a creative writer, writing teacher, and reading and writing tutor in the Northern Nevada/Tahoe area. She lives in Carson City with her husband, two kids and their collective 13 bikes (seriously.) She graduated from of Virginia Commonwealth University with a B.A. in English and an M.F.A. in creative writing. She has published short fiction and, most recently, a scholarly essay in Beyond the Frontier: Innovations in First-Year Composition released by Cambridge Scholars Publishing.

In addition to essays and short stories, Brigette is currently submitting her first novel, Someone Else’s Story for publication and is at work on her second novel. She teaches creative writing for all ages, including university courses, elementary and secondary workshops, and one-on-one tutoring sessions. She also teaches first year composition, research writing, and myth and archetype.

As a reading and writing tutor, Brigette has worked with graduate students, elementary students and every age in between. She helps students read with efficiency and intention and focuses on helping students understand their unique writing process, showing students how to find interest and even enjoyment in an activity that many struggle to love with a goal of applying process and engagement to an academic setting.

When she’s not teaching or writing or tutoring, she’s running her son to soccer or taking her daughter to rehearsal. When she’s not doing any of the above, she is probably somewhere in the western landscape mountain biking, hiking, paddle boarding, camping or snowshoeing.
